At 1937, Engine Company 21 was alerted to assisted Company 9 (MMP&W) with a dwelling fire on Lincoln Way West.  Headquarters advised that Command 9 requested water supply to be set up at the creek on Main Street in Fort Loudon.  Engine 21-1 set up water supply and pumped a total of 17550 gallons.  Engine 21-1 went available at 2312

At 1503 communications alerted the 21-76 box to the Pennsylvania Turnpike at mile marker 184 west bound for an auto accident.  Before going on scene, company 21 units were placed into service by the turnpike commission at 1518.

Company 21 was alerted to 18085 Fannettsburg Road East for an auto accident at 1907 hours.  Units arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway which fell victim to a hit and run.  EMS obtained a patient refusal and units went available at 1916.

At 1147 communications dispatched the 21-01 box to 15025 Path Valley Road for a dwelling fire.  Units arrived to find a chimney fire with extension in the ceiling.  Personnel removed some insulation going  into service at 1227.

At 719 Company 21 was alerted to 6829 Path Valley Road at Rosenberry Brother's Sawmill for a mulch pile fire.  Units arrived to find a 10x10 area of exposed mulch on fire. With the help of Rosenberry employees and water from Engine Tanker 9,  Engine 21-1 personnel extinguished the fire and went available at 841.

At 1553 Company 21 units were dispatched for an auto accident on Path Valley Road in the area of the Fannett Metal High School.  Units arrived to find 2 autos involved.  Engine 21-2 assisted with EMS packaging of one patient and controlled all hazards.  While standing by at the auto accident Company 21 was alerted to the intersection of Path Valley Road and Richmond Road for a fuel spill.  After seeing the entire length of the first due area units arrived to find a fuel leak in the middle of the north bound lane of Path Valley Road.  This leak apparently started in the area of Path Valley Road and Lincoln Way West, traveling north bound for at least 6 miles.  PENNDOT was notified of the situation and units went available at 1649.

At 1409 hours Company 21 units were dispatched to assist FMFD with a barn fire at 22310 Path Valley Road.   Engine 21-1 arrived reverse laying  900' of 5" hose and supplied the scene.  Engine 21-2 assisted with tanker shuttle operations.  Units went available at 1916.

At 1113 Company 21 units were dispatched to the 12-01 box at 22158 Main St. in Doylesburg for a dwelling fire.  Company 21 units arrived and assisted with interior operations.  After an extensive overhaul, units were placed available at 1456.

The 21-01 box was alerted to the 19000 block of Fannettsburg Road West at 1808 for a mountain fire.  Units arrived to find a small area involved and quickly extinguished the fire.  Units went available at 1855.

After an afternoon at the Fannett Metal Elementary School for Fire Prevention presentations, communications alerted the 21-01 box at 1722 hours to 18325 Fannetttsburg Road West for smoke in the dwelling.  Engine 21-1 arrived on scene to find that it was food on the stove.  Not mentioning any names (Mrs. Harris) apparently forgot to "Watch what you heat" and attempted to "cook" a plastic plate with dip.  After a quick ventilation and a few wise cracks, Company 21 went available at 1746.

At 2159 hours Company 21 units were dispatched to the intersection of Back Road and Path Valley Road for an auto accident with reported entrapment.  Units arrived on scene to find 2 autos off the roadway with negative entrapment but a class one patient.  Air medical was immediately dispatched to land at Company 21.  The crew from Engine 21-2 assisted the EMS crew with packaging the patient and also took care of all hazards. Special thanks to members from CO.12 (FMFD) for assisting at the scene with EMS and with the landing zone.  Units went available at 2316

At 1704 the 21-01 box was alerted to the area of 17614 Fannettsburg Road East for a brush fire.  Engine Company 21 and Brush 12 responded with Co. 21 units arriving to find a trash pile fire extending into the grass.  Foam was used on the pile to prevent further extension and the box was placed available at 1800

At 2152 the 21-02 box was alerted to Richmond Road, 1/4 mile from Cowan's Gap State Park for a tree on the roadway.  Co. 21 personnel removed the tree before units arrived and the box was placed available at 2212.

Crash 8-13-06

 

 

 

 

At 231 hours the 21-01 box was alerted to 11940 Path Valley Road for an auto accident.  Units arrived to find one vehicle through mail boxes into a field with one female patient.  Command 21 requested air medical to the scene.  The crew from engine 21-2 set up a landing zone while the crew from 21-8 packaged the patient and assisted the crew from Stat Medivac. 

Units went available at 340.

At 1748 hours communications dispatched the 21-02 box to 4980 Path Valley Road at Gish Logging for a mulch pile fire.  Units arrived to find a large pile on fire.  Units flooded the mulch while the mulch was being moved with the help of Gish Logging personnel.  Units went available at 1907

At 536 communications dispatched the 21-02 box to Richmond Road in the area of the Buckeye II Development for an odor of gas.  According to communications a passer by smelled gas in the area.  With the caller no where to be found, units searched the area and found nothing.  The box was placed into service at 602.  Special thanks to MMP&W for assisting

At 0837 units were again alerted to the PA Turnpike at mile marker 185 westbound for tractor and trailer brakes on fire.  Units arrived to find a tractor hauling lumber with its rear brakes on fire.  The engine crew extinguished the small fire and went available at 0927.

 

8-1-06

 

At 2231 hours communications alerted the 21-76 box to the PA Turnpike mile marker 188 east bound for an emergency public service.  While en route units were advised that a truck hauling a load of cattle had broken down on the pike earlier in the day and the livestock needed cooled down.  The crew from engine 21-2 gave the cattle a refreshing bath and units went available at 0059 hours.

At 1144 hours communications alerted the 21-01 box to the 18000 block of Fannettsburg Road West for a mountain fire.  Units arrived to find a 1/4 acre involved.  The 1/4 acre turned into 1 full acre thanks to high winds.  Units did a quick knock down to prevent any further expansion.  Thanks to FMFD Co.12, and MMP&W Co. 9 for their assistance at the scene.  A special thanks to the Hillside Tavern for the refreshments delivered to the scene.  Units cleared at 1419 hours.

Communications alerted the 21-02 box at 1708 hours to 2931 Path Valley Road for an auto accident.  Company 21 units arrived to find 2 vehicles involved with a small fluid spill.  Engine company took care of the fluid as EMS obtained patient refusals.  Units went available at 1757.

At 1220 hours engine company 21 was alerted to assist Co. 12 with a mountain fire on the Timmons Road.  Engine 21-1 responded and was advised by command 12 to set up a fill site at Creek Road.  One tanker was filled and Engine 21-1 went available at 1404.

At 1936 hours Engine Company 21 was dispatched to 18261 Springtown Road for an automatic fire alarm.    Units found that food on the stove caused the alarm.  The 21-01 was placed available at 1939.

Communications dispatched the 21-01 box to the area of 8146 Path Valley Road for a reported shed fire at 1118.  Units arrived on scene to find a control burn at that location.  The box was placed available at 1128.

Communications alerted the 21-01 box at 2010 hours to a reported dwelling fire at 10984 Fir Avenue.  Units arrived to find a control burn in the area.  The box was placed into service at 2026.

At 1917 hours communications alerted the 21-01 box to 11550 Path Valley Road for an auto accident.  Units arrived on scene to find one auto into a utility pole with no injuries.  EMS obtained a refusal and the box was placed available at 1930.

At 2326 hours communications dispatched the 21-01 box to 8597 Path Valley Road for an outside investigation.  Units arrived to find an open burn in the middle of a field.  Due to the dry conditions, the crew from engine 21-1 extinguished the fire and went available at 0004

At 840 hours communications dispatched the 21-01 box for a vehicle accident with confinement.  Originally dispatched as in the area of the Willow Hill Interchange, ambulance 21-8 arrived on scene at 13671 Path Valley Road to find one vehicle off the road way with occupants self extricated.  Engine 21-2 and the ambulance obtained patient refusals and went available at 0903.

At 1041 hours, communications alerted the 21-01 box to 16167 Scribey Road for a mountain fire.  Command 21 arrived to find a 100'x100' area involved.  Engine 21-1 and Brush 12 contained the fire and units went available at 1111 hours.

At 2327 hours communications alerted Company 21 along with Brush 12 to a mountain fire at the 14000 block of Mountain Green Road.  Eng 21-1 arrived to find an unattended controlled burn.  Units soaked the area and went available at 0021 hours.  Special thanks to Company 12 for the pictures.

At 1407 Company 21 was alerted for a transfer to Company 9 (MMP&W) while they worked a garage fire.  Engine 21-1 responded, but before it could even drive off the ramp, communications placed it into service at 1412.

At 2359 hours communications dispatched the 21-01 box to 13149 Path Valley Road for wires down with a possible brush fire.  Deputy Chief 21 (D. Allen) arrived on scene to find a power line across Path Valley Road with the brush fire already out.  Engine 21-1 and Brush 12 assisted with traffic control while waiting for the power company to correct the problem.  Units went available at 108.

At 1635 hours communications dispatched engine company 21 to transfer to Company 9 while  MMP&W worked a mountain fire in Peters Township.  While at Co. 9, Engine 21-1 was dispatched to a familiar address, 13805 Blairs Valley Road at Whitetail Ski Resort for an automatic fire alarm.  Engine 21-1 went available from the transfer at 1802.

At 344 hours communications alerted the 21-02 to the area of 2090 Path Valley Road for a vehicle accident.  Assistant Chief 21A (D. Stoy) arrived on scene to find one pick up truck into a utility pole with no patient.  Engine 21-2 used lighting to try and locate the patient.  With nothing found, units went available at 408 hours.

For the second time in a row, Con-Ed class was interrupted. At 1415 hours communications dispatched the 21-01 box to Fannettsburg Road East for an auto accident with entrapment. Chief 21 arrived on scene to find one vehicle into a tree with confinement. Engine 21-2  did a door pop and assisted Ambulance 21-8 with patient packaging. Due to Junior Member training happening at the same time Engine 21-1 also responded. A total of  20 personnel responded with units going available at 1453 hours, while 21-8 transported one patient to Chambersburg Hospital.

At 939 hours engine company 21 was dispatched to set up a landing zone for Life Lion at the firehouse.  Ambulance 21-8 was on the scene of a fall victim from a ladder and requested air medical. Units went available at 1018.

At 1227 hrs MTFD and FMFD (Co. 12) was alerted to the 195 mile marker on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. While en route communications advised responding units that they had two tractor trailers with entrapment and fire. Units arrived to find two tractor trailers with fire and no entrapment. One patient was transported with minor injuries. Units worked the scene till 1607 hrs. Companies on the scene: Co. 21, 12, Cumberland 51, 52, Fulton 57, Cumberland Air 53, and Fulton County Medic 56.

At 303 hours communications alerted the 21-01 Box to the area of 7929 Path Valley Road for a dwelling fire.  Captain 21 arrived on seen to find a working situation. Chief 21 arrived to take over incident command while Deputy Chief 21 took over fire ground operations.  Due to the size of the home and fire, crews were placed into a defensive mode. Engine Company 9 set up water supply at Carrick Road as Assistant Chief 12 had water supply command at the scene.   Crews worked for over 6 hours  to extinguish the fire, going available at 946.  At 1247 MTFD was again alerted to the scene for a rekindle.  To top it off another rekindle was dispatched on 2-3-06 at 657.   A special thanks to all mutual aid companies for their response.  Franklin County Companies 12, 9, 18, 11, 8, Sta 4., Fulton 56, 57, Huntingdon 14 and Cumberland 53.  Also a big thanks to Fire Police 1, Utility 3, and all other Fire Police.   Last but certainly not least, MTFD would like to extend a huge thank you to Path Valley General Store, Milky Way Restaurant, Lakeview Restaurant, Carl Rosenberry and Sons Lumber Co., and C M Fuel for all your assistance!

At 0545 hours MTFD was dispatched for an auto accident in front of 3462 Path Valley Road.  Assistant Chief 21A arrived at Path Valley Road and Hartman Drive to find one auto off the roadway.  A21A held Ambulance 21-8 for a refusal and placed Engine 21-2 in service at 0557 hours.

   

At 1910 Engine Company 21 was alerted to 17332 Baton Hallow Road,  Tell Township Huntingdon County, to assist Company 12 with a Chimney Fire.  While en route Captain 12 downgraded Engine 21-1’s assignment to a transfer to his company.  21-1 went available at 1922 hours

EMS Con-Ed class was interrupted at 1644 hours for an emergency public service.  Communications advised that a gentleman wanted his controlled burn extinguished.  Engine 21-1 arrived at 10985 Chestnut Avenue to find the burn.  Personnel used foam to put out the fire.  Engine 21-1 went into service at 1759 hours.

At 1731 hours Communications dispatched the 21-02 box  to 10215 Pump Run Road for a chimney fire.  Assistant Chief 21A arrived to find that the chimney fell victim to a down draft.  High winds were in the area all day and caused the house to fill up with smoke.  Chief 21 placed the box available at 1759 hours.

At 2230 hours Communications dispatched a dwelling fire at 10727 Path Valley Road with a burn victim.  Chief 21 arrived on scene to find one female burn victim but no dwelling fire.  Ambulance 21-8 transported the victim and the box was placed into service at 2241 hours.

At 916 hours Co. 21 and Company 11 Ambulance were dispatched for an MVA at 12784 Path Valley Road.  Units arrived on scene to find one vehicle off the roadway.   Engine 21-2 went in service at 940 hours.

 At 1515 hours Co. 21 was dispatched for an MVA on the Pennsylvania Turnpike at mile marker 188.3 East Bound.  Ambulance 21-8 arrived on scene to find one auto overturned with 2 patients.  A second BLS was dispatched from Company 12.  Engine 21-2 arrived on scene to help with patient packaging and went into service at 1600 hours.

 This weekend was full of activities.  There was a tour of the firehouse, some fun and games.  They will receive some basic training in firefighting & rescue task; view various demonstrations of safety tools, and the use of various firefighting & ambulance equipment.  As a special twist to the program is that not only will they participate in the aforementioned activities, which are normally thought of as life of a firefighter,  Pizza was provided Friday evening, and Saturday breakfast and lunch, and they slept at the firehouse over night Friday night.

NEW AMBULANCE ORDERED

 

APRIL - Members of MTFD approved the purchase of a 2005 Ford E450 Horton Ambulance which should arrived sometime in Fall of 2005.

ACCIDENT IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL

 

JUN 9th 2005  - MTFD crews were alerted to 14823 Path Valley Road in front of the Fannett-Metal High School for an auto accident. Crews arrived on the scene to find two autos involved. A total of 4 patients was transported to the hospital. A door pop was required on one of the autos. Units cleared at 1931 hrs, Chief 21 had command of the incident.

MOBILE HOME FIRE

 

APR 2nd 2005 - Just after 1230 hrs units were alerted to Box 21-01 at 14925 Mountain Green Road for reported smoke coming from a mobile home. Communications advised responding units that additional calls were received reporting a working fire, AC 21 arrived shortly after confirming the working fire and assumed Command. Eng 12-2 (FMFD) and Eng 21-1 arrived and started an aggressive attack quickly bringing the fire under control within 10 minutes. Crews worked the scene for about 1.5 hrs in overhaul operations, returning to service around 1420 hrs.
